What is powder coating?

Powder coating is a dry, baked-on colour finish - a fine powder is applied to the steel and cured under heat, fusing into a hard, even layer. Unlike regular paint, it doesn't run, drip or wear thin over time.

The result is a tougher, more consistent finish than paint - resistant to UV fading, chipping and scratching, so the colour you choose is the colour it stays, season after season.

Standard finish:

Matt black colour

MATT BLACK

A flat, non-reflective black that suits almost any rural setting - sharp against timber posts, steel gates or brick pillars, without glaring back at you in direct sun.

It's a finish chosen for how well it works, not just how it looks: understated enough to let your property name or design do the talking, and tough enough to hold that same flat black for years without fading, chipping or going patchy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the colour fade in direct sunlight?

Our powder coating is UV-stabilised, so it's built to resist fading even under harsh Australian sun over many years. After many years the sign may begin to fade but it is a very robust powder coating finish.

Can I choose any colour?

For all of our standard powder-coated signs, we only offer a matt black finish. If you are wanting a specific colour, get in touch via the contact us page and we can easily organise this for you.

Why does it cost slightly more to ship than corten steel signs?

Powder coated signs need extra protective packaging to arrive without any damage, which adds a small amount to the shipping cost due to both materials and additional labour.

Does it need any maintenance?

No repainting or touch-ups needed - an occasional wipe down is all it takes to keep it looking sharp. Avoid using any harsh chemicals as you may damage the coating.
